All this handwashing malarkey is playing havoc with my hands. Yesterday, I had four plasters on my hands to stem the bleeding from the cracks that keep appearing.
I use a very gentle soap and apply hand cream and cotton gloves but they are my hands are still sore and uncomfortable.

Just an observation.

You're washing your hands too much, then.

Yes wash your hands but not excessively.
Better sore hands than covid 19 .
I read elsewhere on here that its important that you dry your hands thoroughly. Also try O'keefes hand cream...it really works.
Question Author
Yes, Anne. I realise that.
As I said, it was just an observation.

Thanks for the tip, Pasta. I'll have a look at O'Keefes.

TD, how do I stop washing my hands when the advice is to wash your hands?
You're not drying properly, I find it takes longer to dry my hands than the 20 seconds to wash them and I have to rotate hand towels otherwise you're always using a damp towel and you'll never get them dry. Also, I've used that spray on plaster over the cracks on my knuckles to stop them getting worse.
A real old application is Smiths Cremola, only at pharmacies

Wash your hands 3 times a day. Once in the morning during your morning wash (if you have one).

Once before Lunch time (before you eat).

Then, once before dinner. (Before you eat).

Did you not wash your hands before you were advised to wash your hands? You just need to be sensible, washing hands hourly isn't.
Question Author
Fitzer, thank you. I'll take more notice of drying my hands properly.

TD, of course I washed my hands previously, a lot more than three times a day.

Don't you bother after going to the loo, or out shopping, TD?
Washing hands after the loo doesn't count as the "wash ur hands cus of corona" quota.

If someone tells me or if they don't, I'll wash my hands when and as I see fit.

I don't need to wash my hands after visiting the supermarket Naomi because I'm not a high risker.
And she's off .
I don't think that is the point.

If you catch it you become a carrier.
I`ve heard people at work saying the same thing about sanitiser - it wrecks your hands. I`m not washing my hands any more at home than I would otherwise - only when I come in from being out and about.
Ichkeria, quite.
Tilly, this may sound wicked but my nurse suggested this to me, it works, 1 part vinegar to 9 parts water, dip hands in, it will seal the little cuts, it works, she has always had to do this as her hands are forever being washed making house calls. I also put lashings of emolient on at night and wrap my hands in gauze, dump the fllowing morning...TD..if ever I met you, virus or not, I'd be keeping my hands well stuffed in my pockets rather than shake your minging hands... ooh no hand wash after loo
Question Author
Ducksie, I might just give that a go. Thank you.

Right I'm off to take Tilly out. I'll leave you to it, TD. :-)

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions.
Good luck Tilly, perhaps if you could source some latex gloves that would help
Best of luck...it gives quick sting, tingle but grand then ..good luck x
Lol are we still talking about hand washing Ducksie?
"If you catch it you become a carrier."

We're all going to catch it at some point or another. It's a case of the government trying to slow down cases going tot he NHS due to capacity. This is why we're aiming for a peak in July.

I would not end up in the NHS and yes, some around me might but what can I do? Me washing my hands after shopping won't stop Gregg the OAP catching coronavirus. He needs to was his hands after shopping.

It's a virus not a game of tag!
