parental effects on later love -book title

A while ago I came across a book on amazon but forgot title and author. I have searched and searched but can't find it again. The subject is how relationships with parents alter the sorts of relationships you engage in as adults. For example an unloved child whose opinions and actions are belittled by its parents will find people who treat them the same way but will then try to extract love and respect from them as a sort of way of healing their earlier relationship.

It could be a number of books, but a few worth reading are "Toxic Parents" and "Men who hate women and the women that love them" both by Susan Forward. Also "Families and how to survive them" by John Cleese and Robin Skynner is worth a look. Hope this helps.
