I was diagnosed with RA aged fifty and am now 72. I still have RA flare ups ,have chronic whole body OA and spinal stenosis which limits my mobility. If I had saved the amount of money I've spent on all these supplements ,vitamins and quack remedies I've taken over the years I'd be a lot richer .None of them have ever worked for me.
I stick with the medication prescribed to me by my doctor and pain management clinic.
If there was a cure for arthritis in any form people would be queuing round the block.

Thank you Pasta and Sqad, I even got myself mixed up! I can't take Tumeric because of digestive issues and I am on blood thinners. So I can't take any antiinflamatory drugs like Ibuprufen. I cannot take stronger pain killers because they cause hallucinations and I can't take statins. The Pain Clinic could only advise coping strategies through counselling. So paracetamol and antidepressants are all I can have for pain. I get by, just about. I will put myself back on the magnesium and I do take Vitamins D3 and B12. My list of ailments just gets longer and longer.

A very wise statement. If everyone recognised this then the thousands peddling quack remedies would soon go out of business. Meanwhile they're just milking the gullible (still a very profitable market, the snake oil salesman is far from a thing of the past).

Do you really think anyone taking remedies for Arthritis think they will be 'cured'? I am well aware degenerative conditions cannot be cured with any medication quack or otherwise. In my opinion, and personal experience, supplements plus a lifestyle change can alleviate symptoms associated with these conditions. Surely a supplement known to have anti-inflammatory properties must have an impact on conditions where pain is a result of inflammation?
Cannabis and Turmeric with Curcumin have had a positive effect on my personal pain management to the point I very rarely need any painkillers, but I concede that it's the T-cell blocker that has got me from walking with a stick to riding my horses once again.

I was all set to give Tumeric a go before I found out it couldn't be taken if you were on blood thinners. Apart from Paracetamol and my anti depressants I now take no prescription meds for pain. They turned me into a zombie with hallucinations. I obviously take my blood pressure tablets. I was taken very quickly off statins when my blood tests showed they affected my liver very badly and my liver returned to normal.
I amazed them when I had my new shoulder (a reversed shoulder) and managed without morphine and strong pain killers. Pain killers are a dangerous route to go down for anybody except in acute situations Our bodies can learn to cope more than we think.
