Try working for the NHS then you would really be fed up with it! Finally had 2 days out of full PPE this week then ended up back in it again, least it stops me eating too much chocolate ....

///ParsleyDumplingWe have seen a huge surge in positive tests, but not the resultant hospital admissions and deaths. //
Admissions
Give it time, numbers of deaths and admissions at the end of November will be the significant time to comment.
My guess will be a marked and an increasing rising number of both.

>FF - if you’re going to bandy about completely unsubstantiated numbers , that were merely worst case scenario guesstimates at the start , then you do have to justify them.
That would be funny, DD- that is if you find the current figure of 400000-60000 deaths funny or think it's fake news. 5-10%% of UK citizens have had Covid so far and over 60000 excess deaths have occurred. Does it not occur to you that the figure might be a lot higher by the time infection rates get to the 60% needed for herd immunity.
The ignorance and arrogance of some people on AB is unbelievable.

Even if they spelled it out, sqad, I'm interested to know what they think needs to be done to save the economy. Shops are open, pubs are open, restaurants are open, businesses are open, decorators and plumbers are working, doctors and solicitors are working, hotels are open, trains are running, people are going on holiday here and abroad
I think I agree with you sqad. If we let Covid run riot unchecked for a few months in selected places such as care homes and cancer, cornry care wards, and organised Covid parties for all the overweight, diabetics, BAMEs and over 55s so as to wipe out the weakest, I reckon the rest would largely survive and herd immunity wouldn't be an issue any more.
I can see that letting a few tens of thousands of old /ill people die might save us some money in care, welfare and pension costs. But what specifically would you do that would make a significant improvement to the economy? I actually prefer supermarkets, pubs and restaurants now with more distancing and table service, so I'm actually boosting the hospitality more than I used to.
ff, people are already dying from cancer, because they are not getting screening, diagnosis and treatment. This is because the NHS seems to have stopped treating anything other than Covid. I have repeatedly asked is that acceptable? A lot more people are dying due to causes other than Covid, and because the management of Covid seems to have made all other illness "invisible" I suppose, that is alright, though, as long as we can control the virus, (although it's not that which is causing the huge majority of deaths). So yes I maybe a Covidiot, but at least I am not blinkered to the damage being done, in most of the other areas of our health, society and well being (physical and mental).
