It's Only Fair, Isn't It?

Mrs A (70s, congestive heart failure, weak) has developed lumps in her side and abdomen.
Ok, says GP, we'll send you for an ultrasound scan. We get letter from local (private) clinic. She phones up, they say "Oh, next appointment is November 13th."
Next day she phones again and says she's a private self-funding patient, and asks when the next appointment is. "Tomorrow." Which is only fair, isn't it? People who've worked hard for their money should be able to get proper service.
My Jim Royle.
(And yes, before the intellectual skinheads roar their disapproval, we're going private. We don't spend it on booze/meat/gambling/holidays/cars/etc, so we'll buy her some time instead).

@17.14 I think the point A is trying to get across is that if you require an appointment with the NHS you will wait x amount time. Should you opt for a private appointment that will arrive a lot sooner. But that's been the case for many years. I'd be more concerned if I hadn't got the funds for a private appointment. What do we learn from this? it always pays to save for a rainy day. :0)
You have enough funds to opt for private healthcare -well congratulations. What a shame everyone is basically agreeing with you - were you up for a fight Allen? Going private if you can, to hurry things along, is pretty standard practice. WE have Private Healthcare insurance but still have to pay our N.I. contributions which is fine by me as Emergency treatment is not included in Private Healthcare plans.
"There has been a fair bit of it about today"
Not just today. On any given day on here, you can pretty much bet your bottom dollar that one of the following will happen:
TheLand will start yet another thread about how God is really nice and/or foreign people really aren't
TTT or Gulliver will start yet another thread pointing out how supporters of any political party that they don't support are brainwashed idiots
Nailit will start yet another thread saying that people who follow any religion are fools
All of the above seem to be deliberately seeking conflict rather genuine debate.
Ad nauseum.

Prudie "I hope Mrs A gets a good result. Yes it is unfair but that's how it's always been. I am a little surprised though that with your very left thinking that you have gone against your principles and gone private."
I have never understood this...why it should be a leftist principle not to be allowed to spend your money any way you like.

Mozz - // Who does a mod report to? //
As Mamya pointed out, all reports, including those from Moderators, go straight to the Editorial Team who make a judgement on whether or not the thread or post stays, or is removed.
That's obviously different from Mods seeing posts or threads that they regard as contravening Site Rules, which they can remove themselves, but again, those are flagged up to the Editorial Team and the reason which the Mod must give for their action is assessed,
