It's Only Fair, Isn't It?

Mrs A (70s, congestive heart failure, weak) has developed lumps in her side and abdomen.
Ok, says GP, we'll send you for an ultrasound scan. We get letter from local (private) clinic. She phones up, they say "Oh, next appointment is November 13th."
Next day she phones again and says she's a private self-funding patient, and asks when the next appointment is. "Tomorrow." Which is only fair, isn't it? People who've worked hard for their money should be able to get proper service.
My Jim Royle.
(And yes, before the intellectual skinheads roar their disapproval, we're going private. We don't spend it on booze/meat/gambling/holidays/cars/etc, so we'll buy her some time instead).

TTT - // prudie: "My understanding is the hard left have always wished to abolish all capitalist perks such as private education, private healthcare, private ownership etc. If that's their thinking then they shouldn't partake surely? " - indeed so it's a bit odd that one of them is going private. I think there is a word for that. //
If any socialist wants to put a loved one's health before their political principles, I doubt anyone would take issue about it - as this thread has proved.
I am however mystified as to why any socialist would do that does not keep it as a private matter, which it is, rather than taking to a site like this to announce it, and then ask anyone who doesn't like it to come and have a go if they think they are hard enough.
The resounding indifference that has followed has simply resulted in a further call to conflict, for reasons unknown.
I refer you back to my initial response - what is this for, and what response is Allen looking for?

AH: "If any socialist wants to put a loved one's health before their political principles, I doubt anyone would take issue about it - as this thread has proved. " - the point is that most "socialists" are not socialists they just think they are. They prescribe a system for the masses but live outside it themselves. Every implementation of socialism/communist in history just made everyone poor except a few at the top who lived like the capitalists they despise. Allen was a true socialist he'd have given his money to those worse off and we would not be having this discussion.
There are several people on this site whose opinions I respect and value.
They do not include the intellectual skinheads (are YOU ‘ard enough?), the barking dogs who need little cage-rattling (‘told you so’, yap yap), immoderate moderators (‘Now just look here!’), ... I’ve run out of ideas!
But yes, my honesty has caught me out. I hold socialist principles (look the word up in a dictionary), and sometimes spend money in capitalist enterprises.
And I still call a spade a spade.

It's not your honest that's caught you out Allen, it's your need to broadcast your sense of self-righteousness, coupled with your chippy need to fall out with people for no reason at all, that leaves you scatter gunning nonsense at anyone who points out the less attractive aspects of your personality.
Don't want to get 'found out"? Don't start threads telling anyone how wonderful you are for doing what anyone does - their best for those they care about.

There’s two main reasons for continuing. One, courtesy to the likes of you, woofgang, ellie et al. You’ve been good enough to offer kind thoughts, and it would seem rude to just disappear.
Two, a less noble thought - I really don’t want the manly men, the intellectual skinheads, and the generally immoderate brigade, I don’t want them to think they’ve shut me up!
