Evening Everyone!
Today I got a notification on my NHS covid app that I had been in contact with someone who has tested positive.
This alarmed me greatly.
It tells me I need to isolate for 6 days. The isolation period is 10 days from your contact with the person, so I'm guessing my contact was on Sunday.
I went to only one place on Sunday that was outdoors and cannot see how, at any time I was within 2m of someone for more than 15 minutes... which is how the app algorithms work.
The only thing I can think of, during my time out, my phone battery died. Could this have affected the Bluetooth communication within the app, letting it think I was still in the vicinity of this person when, actually I was not??
Cheers.
In my uninformed opinion of the app, I would have thought that a dying/dead battery would result in contacts not being noticed rather that non-contacts being created.
