A nun untill I was 8, then a police woman until I was told by my optician at 16 I was far too short sighted and finally a teacher. My mum wanted me to be a nurse or a doctor but I couldn't and still can't look at or touch a hypodermic syringe - my mum said she never had to worry about me getting involved with seriously hard drugs..
Zacs:
Becoming a bin man was what my mother always threatened me with: "If you don't pay attention at school, do as you're told and work hard, you'll grow up to be a bin man!" ;-)

However it seems that you're not unique!

Fulfilled my wish exactly, but then 20 years as a RM was enough.
Soldier
A train driver, a bus conductor, and a journalist.

I managed one - some of my editors think I managed one of the others as well!!
Gladly yes. I am lucky that I didn't wish for a removal of all humour detection sensors and a common sense bypass procedure. Do you regret it now Gully?
As a young kid in the 60's I wanted to be a bus conductor. But it had to be on a bus with no passenger door at the back. I wasn't interested in collecting fares or anything like that, all I wanted to do was hang on to the bus with one hand behind by back, and push the button for the driver with the other !! All before the days of "health & safety"
In truth, and after a bit of painful recall, to be independent. I could barely wait and left home just after turning 17( almost 54 years ago now) and have done what I promised myself.
A show dancer as opposed to ballet dancer or an actress.
Everything apart from what I do now!
I wanted to be a Hairdresser.
I told my teacher who was a nun - that I wanted to be a nun - she said "sit down".
I never knew what I wanted to do. I still don't really.
Always wanted to be hairdresser. Never happened though...

Lol jennyjoan!
I wanted to be married. Oh foolish me.
What a coincidence, Jennyjoan. I asked my careers teacher what path I should follow and, in particular, what qualifications I might end up with at school. He replied 'Nun' ;-)
Nothing, I had no aspirations whatsoever :-)

I've always been employed though, with Covid though I more or less do naff all.
>>> I more or less do naff all

Aha! My ultimate ambition!

;-)
".....what did you want to be when you grew up?" No-one's said it yet. so here goes. Taller.
