I've Had The Vaccine...

After musch research and a convo with my consultant I had the Pfizer Vaccine on Friday. Got all my ducks lined up in a row viz a viz side effects -homemade soup in the Fridge, someone to look after the horses etc. - and 'Zilch'! Nothing !

Sat on the couch Friday evening expecting it to 'hit me' at any moment -nothing, except a huge appetite for some reason. My arm was not even sore. OH has his last week ( AZ) and the same -no side effects except his arm was a bit sore for 48 hours. Talked to a few neighbours and two were the same as us, no side effects, the other (male) was laid up in bed for 48 hours, literally could not get out of bed.

Weird.

I am glad you went for it and that you avoided the side effects. Apart from some age related possibilities, no one seems to have come up with any ideas on who gets what side effects let alone why.
Very pleased for you - a lovely feeling, to have sailed through it.

Onward.
Glad you came through it unscathed.

It seems to be a lottery who gets what side effects. I had none (not even a sore arm): my next door neighbours and friend who were vaccinated within 30 minutes of me all had flu-like symptoms and sore arms (in one case within an hour of the jab)
I've not heard of anyone who had a bad reaction to the Pfizer vaccine.

The AZ vaccine is a different matter. The younger/fitter/healthier you are, the more likely you seem to be to have a reaction to that one.

All anecdotal based on the very small sample of people I know who've been vaccinated.
I've had both of my jabs (pfizer), no side affects.

I know I've harped on about not having it, but I do feel a huge sense of relief. The Consultant assured me people in a similar position to me had had the vaccine with no adverse effects. I'm getting the second one in 12 weeks , which seems a long time, but I'm sure they know what they are doing. ;-)

What I did find out though was that most NHS and front-line workers have been offered the Pfizer rather than the AZ. I only got the Pfizer as my Consultant phoned the GP . Locally to us, they are giving the AZ then 12 weeks latere the Pfizer -which again seems very strange. Also apparently the Pfizer vaccine costs the NHS four times more per dose than the AZ.
Anyone I know who has had a reaction, has had Astrazeneca.
Glad you didn't.

Very odd isn't it
Maybe frontline workers are getting Pfizer because there's less chance of a flu-like reaction.
When I had mine, I was told there were bigger stocks of AZ available. It's easier to store too, isn't it?

Thanks Pasta .

I must be old, unfit and unhealthy :-;

Yes Pasta -when I went for mine there was a queue outside mainly people over 70 getting their second dose. The vaccine only lasts 6 hours after it had been defrosted then they have to bin it.
I took what was available at the time, which was AZ, had a very sore arm for a couple of days. Vaccination centres get what's delivered on the day.

Toorak -I'm over 60 with an auto-immune condition that requires immune suppressant drugs. I am both amazed and truly thankful I did not have any reaction to the vaccine.

Are you saying they are mixing vaccines? thats not allowed.
APG, I am pleased that you had a positive experience. I did too with the AZ vac. I usually get a really sore arm with the flu vac :-)
I had Pfizer too. No reaction. Husband had AZ, no reaction. Daughter, 35, (asthma) flu like symptoms, 2-3 days.
I'm 62 and got mine because my partner is on a high risk list, she was in hospital with an unconnected matter, but Sod's law she's now contracted Covid whilst in hospital.
With AZ I had mild flu symptoms for about 24 hours. Only time my arm felt sore was when I'd first get into bed on my left side. That didn't happen for a day or 2 though. No pain.
I hope she gets well soon, Tony.
