Dentists-What Do People Think Of Them

I had a tooth break and it left a sharp piece which was pushing up against my tongue. So I went to a private dentist who took under a minute to file it down . The bill was £100 . So that was the equivalent of £6000 per hour.
They also arranged for me to see a hygenist and sent me an E Mail saying it would be £220 for one hour , which I promptly cancelled.
Is this the normal price or was I being ripped off

Dentists are very good at making extractions very painfull, especially the extractions from your wallet or purse.

Like a lot of health care pros I think some of them are milking it. I recently asked a quote for removing an ingrowing toenail - £400 f-ing quid for 1/2 an hour's work. You are taking the pee!

I’m 50 and have been using the same dentist practice since I was a child, and through grandfather rights (I suppose) am still NHS, so six monthly check-ups are incredibly reasonable, although I think I’m lucky that I’ve never had anything needed done to my teeth, I didn’t even need a brace as a child as my teeth grew straight. Apparently, so the dentist tells me, it’s unusual to get to my age and never having needed a filling (although that said, I’ve always been obsessive about cleaning my teeth).

People my age in poorer communities never got good dental care and had a poor diet generally. I had some teeth out at about 6/7 years old & never saw a dentist again (or cleaned my teeth!) until I was 20 when I had more extractions & fillings. Since then I have had regular check ups and some treatments & managed so far without dentures or implants. My teeth aren't good to look at but are functional.

My parents generation used to say "Have them all out, They'll only be a bother to you!".

there are some sharks in the dental profession, i experienced one back in the 1980's said i needed x amount of fillings, i thought mmm as i was not in any pain, so i went to another dentist, that said all i needed
was a polish... i reported the other dentist and was told he was struck off...

The very minimum I expect from my dentist is for him to be a non-aerosol.

David Small at 15.43 - you are seriously adrift on to counts there - one, you are assuming that Naomi would ever wish to be close enough to administer physical punishment, and two that I would ever let her.

I can only speak for myself of course, so the second one is a definite!!!!
