Could I be addicted to Bread, I don't feel satisfied with anything I eat unless it includes bread, I want to give it up completely, but I know I am going to find it very hard to do, what can I replace it with.

is it making you ill?
Question Author
Apparently I am intolerant to wheat, woof, but it doesn't stop me eating it or craving it.

Infact sometimes if I'm feeling a bit peckish in the evening, I've been known to eat a couple of slices, dry with nothing on it.
but is it making you ill?
Bread is great. But best not have more than your body can tolerate.

Maybe the type of bread is relevant. Try a different carb option.
Bread isn't actually addictive.
Nothing can replace bread. If you really want to stop eating it, you just have to stop eating it. You'll soon get used to not eating it
I struggle with bread, same as pasta/rice....I find it too filling.
I always feel the need to finish a meal with a slice of bread, I couldnt give up bread, but do try to cut down.
Toast?!
When you toast bread it does not remove the wheat.
I think johnk was trying to be funny :)
Some foods can have addictive properties...they cause chemical responses in the brain in the same way as alcohol, tobacco and drugs such as coke. There are individual ingredients such as grains and sugar, and the combination of certain fats and sugary carbohydrates.
That you don't feel satisfied is your brain telling you to eat more, not actual hunger. Include a bit more protien in your meals plus healthy fats...both will be more satiating.
I speak from experience...I very rarely eat bread. In the past I could easily scoff 5 or 6 slices...and still want more. I ate a LOT of bread.
I put the most of my extra weight on eating to much bread. I would eat it every day and from crust to crust if I had the chance. Trying to cut down on it but it is hard. Love it while it is still warm with plenty of proper butter not those spread things.
still no answer about if the bread is making the OP ill?
I can relate to this I love bread so much and potatoes
The OP has not mentioned feeling unwell such as digestive issues or symptoms of intolerance...more a craving that is only satisfied by bread.
I too love bread, would eat a crusty loaf on the journey home from the shop. Love toast. Nothing nicer than a thick crust with half an inch of butter.
Health problems meant I had to change my eating habits drastically - I now have two slices of bread (no butter or spread) every 10 days. It's hard but it can be done
I make a seeded bread that has no wheat in it...just seeds and porridge oats. I make a loaf...it weighs a ton...slice it and freeze. I'll have just 1, maybe 2 slices once in a while. I'm not obsessed with it.
