Not if we do proper checks at airports. Its just another variant, maybe spreads more easaly especially in children but the vaccinne still works AFAIK. As long as people arent silly and ignore everything we should of learnt we should be okay

sincerely hope not, not sure the country would go for another lockdown to be honest. If the rollout of the vaccine continues then we should be protected against this new variant.

200,000 deaths from Covid is a shocking figure, until you realise that the population of India is 1.3 Billion.

200,000/1,300,000,000 = 0.015 or 1.5 in every 10,000 people.

Which is less than the highest figure in the Uk which is 127,000 deaths from a population of 68 Million.

127,000/68,000,000 = 0.18 or 18 in every 10,000 people.

It may seem a lot worse from the pictures being shown on the news because the population is spread throughout a vast area and the main victims of covid are in the densely populated areas. Also India is a so called third world country that prefers to spend its money on a space program than on the health of its citizens.

i reckon that 200,000 is very light on facts. I think its way way more, double possibly triple those who have died in India.

Its a lot worse than that tho bluemoon because its generally accepted there underrecording as they only count hospital deaths not those we see on TV where famlies are burning there dead relatives on wooden bonfires. Also the India figures are rising rapidly and theres no sign of it slowing down wereas ours have dropped right down. In a few months there totals per million will be alot worse than ours

Well it would have to increase twelve fold to 2,400,000 to equal the Uk. That's a lot to hide.

It's also growing quite rapidly at the moment: the average reported daily death toll has increased tenfold in the last month and almost doubled in a week. It's sadly likely to continue on that trend for a while yet, and the knock-on effects of the health system there being overwhelmed make for an even worse picture.

The past dosnt matter now. What matters is that there infection rates are awful and there deaths per million are high and far worse than ours now and will remain so for this year at least.

According to last night’s news only those who die in hospital are counted. The real total is thought to exceed one million - and growing.

Well the Indian cricket stadiums were full of people not wearing masks in February/March of this year. Perhaps if we are reducing our mask wearing and social distancing then our death tolls will rise as they have in India.

and its not just the elderly that are dying.

our vaccination programme has helped, now we need to get the rest of the country done, so we can go about out daily lives, even if it means wearing a mask for some time to come.

But we aren't vaccinated against the Indian variant, the only solution is another total lockdown.

As I said yesterday. They have plants that can produce 10s of millions of vaccines. Bill Gates won't give them the patents. How he acquired them? Pass.
