A friend of mine has quite a lot of teeth missing and wears a partial top
denture but she can't get on with her partial bottom teeth denture.
Also, she has worn down her bottom teeth by grinding them in her sleep, and with other work she's had done in the past, possibly veneers etc her teeth seem to be all different shades.
Speaking to me about them, she said she would like to have all her teeth taken out and have full dentures top and bottom, but I can't imagine a dentist would do that as I expect the teeth she does have left are sound but don't particularly look nice.
Would an NHS dentist do this or perhaps a private dentist?
I'm off to a hospital appointment but will check in when I get back. TIA.

I told my friend I doubted whether she would get this done on the NHS but I've no idea about paying privately, whether they would take her remaining teeth out and fit full dentures if she was paying them to do that.
The problem is she isn't very confident on the phone, she even gets in a muddle when she is asking Alexa something.
Would she be able to make an appointment to see a private dentist to talk about it in person , or do you have to pay just to see them?

NHS dentist are paid to make people orally healthy. That might include suggesting extractions when u don't really want them or not doing extractions when you do want them. She would have to pay to see a private dentist... no dentist would recommend a course of treatment if they hadn't examined the pt
I am a connoisseur of false teeth/dentures, metal platey things (which my cousin called "an instrument of torture), implants - with the screwey things in your gums, also because of bad bone density (£1,000) added.
All dentists will tell you lovely things but whilst I have had very little trouble with the implants - she needs to go to a very very good honest dentist (unfortunately private).
My whole lot, of the above cost me £10,000, but the £6,000 for the implants were worth it (at the moment). Oh and that was just for the four front teeth.

Dental students will certainly perhaps help the remaining teeth she has and possibly refer her for dentures which lessens the "pain of money".
I am having trouble with a gumboil for nigh on 13 weeks and won't go away but is painless, however after sending a photo of it to my doctor I am getting referred to the dental hospital to see what they say.
Good luck to your wee friend.
