Any tips on how to motivate myself to eat less / exercise more?
Sailed through most of my life eating what I want. Never put on weight and everyone said how lucky I was!
But now ----age 47 (menopause confirmed) I am packing on the weight and am a tight size 14 heading to a 16 fast. No signs of it slowing down either so I need to do something sooner rather than later.
I also comfort eat (so cue any sad / bored / tired / stressed time I eat ... a lot)
Tips ? anything worked for any of you?
I dont want advice for a diet as such but need tips on what has motivated you?
I know in my head it should be "eat less, exercise more" but in reality I just dont do that!

My daughter and her partner had gone off to Australia to work and live for a year and I was having real problems coping. I was eating huge amounts of sugary food and lots of late night bowls of Mac and cheese. I knew I had to stop. It was worry about my health and how uncomfortable I was that motivated me. I also knew that eating less/calorie counting didn't work for me...it just made me obsess about food. Luckily I came across a way of eating that did work.
That's what you need to do...think of your health. Do a bit of research and think about what foods work for you...and leave you satiated until your next meal. We are all different...what works for one may not work for you. You'll probably have to experiment...and look at this as how you're going to eat from now on. Not as a diet that's temporary. You need to be able to live with it.

After seeing a photo of myself taken in June, I decided it was time to lose some weight.
I realised my clothes were getting tighter and tighter and I couldn't fasten any of my coats!
I made a graph of squares. 4 squares across headed Breakfast Lunch Dinner Snacks and 7 squares down Monday to Sunday.
In each square, I wrote what I was going to eat on that day and those were the only foods I bought when I went shopping.
Think of healthy foods to eat and try to stop buying biscuits, cakes, crisps, ice cream etc just have them as an occasional treat.
I'm not able to exercise, but just by diet alone I've lost over a stone.
It isn't easy, but try to remember that all the unhealthy foods are not good for you and all the healthy foods are. Good luck Eve. x

Everyone's body composition is different, so the effect of doing yoga-meditation on everyone may be different, may be different experiences. So don't compare your experience with the experience of others. Be patient, meditation is not a magic wand whose effect will be seen immediately. If you study / practice every day, you will definitely feel the difference.
