I know of people who had the shingles jab when they turned 70 yrs old.
Is it something you have to ask your GP for ?

Our surgery automatically offers shingles jabs as they do with the flu jab. Ask your receptionist.

I saw a nurse practitioner about my leg, she read my notes and caught me for shingles and pneumonia jabs. I don't think I would have been contacted by the practice.

We were contacted and offered it and we took advantage of the offer.

I was offered one without having to ask (I accepted) but it sounds as if it's up to your GP how they arrange it. Call them.

It's one-off, you don't need one every year and it doesn't have to be winter.

I had a text from my surgery offering me a shingles jab. I just have to reply by text yes or no. I am going to text yes tomorrow.

If I phone the surgery tomorrow, will the receptionist be able to find out if I've had it?
I definitely don't remember being offered it when I turned 70.

In normal times the surgeries probably did these vaccinations in batches once a year and invited people to book in.

No doubt that’s all gone by the by withCovid and flu jabs being the priority at the moment.

I've never heard of Shingles and Pneumonia jabs - at 79 it sounds like a good idea.

Mind you, I'm not surprised my local surgery haven't suggested it, they didn't even contact me about the Covid jabs, as a result of which I was way behind the rest of the population on all three jabs (I got my Booster just two days ago).
