My low mood always seems to be so much worse in the morning time regardless of how much sleep I get, gradually it lifts around 1pm and improves as the day goes on but the mornings have become so bad its got to the point where I'm dreading them, is there a medical reason for this

Google 'diurnal mood variation' for loads of info on the subject.

(Probably like you, I've always thought that mornings should be banned!)

Yes, very much so.

The depressive will go off to sleep quite well but wake up in the early hours and cant get back to sleep. His/her morning is miserable but gets better as the day goes on.

Thhe Anxiety state sufferer is exactly the opposite in having difficulty getting off to sleep, fine in the morning then anxiety patterns get worse as the day goes on.

Of course, there are exceptions and variations to this.
