People with power often find that part of exercising that power is giving other people less power over their lives.
When power belongs to men, as it more often than not does, then it's easy for them to enjoy domination over women and their rightful choices in life.
My position on abortion has been stated many many times on here in the last twenty-one years and counting, and remains unwavering -
The final choice to carry a pregnancy to term or not is the choice of the mother, and no-one else.
Interference by anyone else is immoral, and that immorality increases on an upwards scale - the further away the connection of the inteferer from the woman, the more immoral their influence is.
If you are the father, or a close family member, then your views should be considered, leaving the final choice to the woman concerned.
If you are a state legislator, you have no business whatsoever in playing God with complete strangers just because the state gives you the power to do so.
The giving, and exercise of such power, are a deep stain on modern society.

Financually, they are going to end up owing millions in compensation, for injuries, deaths, PND, loss of earnings, foster care, childcare, sexual discrimination... for all these women forced to have unwanted children.
I can't see any reason for moral controversy, before viability- while it is literally still a part of the mother.

I would hope that the vast majority of ABers are in favour of a woman determining her right to abort - or are ABers so Catholic or extreme in their natal logic?..
In thinking that this a non-issue to the UK but one that we ought to register our disgust as to what is going on in certain states across the Pond....but then this may be pushing idealistic fantasy on here.

By whom? Surely a pregnant woman can speak to and take opinions or advice from whoever she chooses? //
Apologies if I was not clear - the views of the father or close family members should ideally be considered by the mother.
The views of complete strangers, such as state officials, should not be considered.
And of course she can speak to, and take opinions from whomever she chooses.
And to underline my point, the final decision regarding termination or not, should be hers, and and hers alone.

Isn’t it funny how the USA and Afghanistan could not be more diametrically opposed in pretty much every facet of life and social circumstances yet the common denominator religion ensures both remain inextricably linked and comparable to the dark ages in relation to womens rights?
