So, there is this girl who is going through quite deep depression. She always was able to open up to me and tell me how she was feeling but recently it feels like she is just pushing me away.
She'll usually be up through the night not sleeping at all and excessively posting sad instagram stories. I know she is going through something. The happy and carefree person I met has now just gone numb.
However, is it possible that people who are depressed only push certain people away, not everyone? She will reply to randoms on instagram but not really say anything to me. Believe she also told me that she hasn't seen her best friend for a month and she lives close. It gets me wondering, is she only distant with me or is it everyone?
There are people on here that will be able to answer you better than me but I do have a little experience. My son has had periods of deep depression and I realised that he was speaking to some of his friends much more than me. He has online friends who he has met and a couple of local friends.

When depressed you can find almost any reaction to be easiest for you. I wouldn't say certain people. It's possible they find isolation least stressful. Unsure if that helps the overall situation though. One can only offer companionshop; folk make their own choices from the available options.
Yes, I would agree that when depressed, there are some people you can talk to and some you can't.
Usually the ones you can speak to are the ones you think will understand.
