I would choose to know, to make plans, get any major tasks complete, leave everything in order and pass on things in person. In reality I long ago decided that barring accidents I would probably choose when to leave, as I am likely to outlive the rest of my family and I know what bad things can happen when elderly people have no one to look out for them. Not for ages yet I hope.
