I am struggling to rid our P R T of fleas. When she goes out on a nature reserve ,off lead, she loves it and at 9 and a half shows no sign of slowing down. She swims then rolls in dust ,sand, mud, fox poo in fact anything noxious and ALWAYS has done!! I have to wash and groom her 9 times out of ten. She's a proper terrier. She seems to pick up fleas regularly and then I spot them i treat her. I was of the opinion that when one administers the liquid it should be done in the neck area. The lady who grooms her found fleas around the root of her tail Anus and Vulva. This is after a few days since her last treatment. .In the first 9 years I have had her this has not happened before. Chris (Itchy)
What does your vet have to say about her and is he doing the prescribing for her treatments or are you buying over the counter?
Sorry about all the questions but I hope we can get to the bottom of it as the itching must be driving the poor girl crazy. Hopefully gpj she'll calm down in the next nine years!!
Sorry folks she has had fleas before long ago Yes we "do" the house as well . And yes she is going to be "long lived" I know and at 77 I am hoping to live a tad longer. Pal had a P R T which was still around at 19!
Also I have given her two doses of "Boob Martins Clear" Is it O K to double dose her do you think??
Grandpajoe I also am trying to outlive my little terrier as he loves me and I can't bear to think he might have to go back into a rescue if I go first. He is at least 12.5 years old and is as mad as a hatter. I'm quite a bit older than you GPJ and not well but he keeps me going. We wouldn't be without them would we! xx
Never double up or overdose on flea or worm treatment - it can be fatal. I would recommend you get a Seresto collar which lasts around 7/8 months. Make sure you get it from a reliable source such as Animed or Petdrugsonline - there are some fake ones around on the internet. Don't use anything else, just leave the collar on and it will keep working even if they swim.
I have put a flea collar on her as recommended and we've vacuumed everywhere and used a full tin of killer on beds blankets etc. BUT this numpty bought the collar which is maybe 1 size less than ideal and having opened it I have made it fit OK A couple of 3M Tape has done the trick and Madge has not protested at all. Cheers everyone
