I think the article has it right in terms of cause.

Most people eat too much (my dad told me).

As the article effectively suggests, there's almot certainly no single cause.

However pressure on the NHS (resulting in long waiting lists for those known to have potential heart problems and also deterring people from seeing their GPs over their health concerns) is likely to be a factor, combined with the after effects of Covid (both in terms of decreased respiratory function in some people and changes in people's lifestyles) and the increased consumption of processed foods.

And people are living longer but not dying of other things,

After effects of Covid (and the vaccine)?

Oh, and lockdown because people couldn't get the healthcare that they were entitled to as tax payers.

Stress and anxiety.

Inactivity

I suspect that it's largely due to lack of physical activity combined with dietary habits. Our lives are very different from what they were. We are probably killing ourselves by self-abuse, despite the improvement in medical expertise.

Atheist, traditionally self-abuse only makes you go blind.

jno. You are so old fashioned. Self abuse can include excess alcohol, sedentary lifestyle, ......

But I do get your banter. mwaaa. :-)

Stress.. if we have no stress, we get stressed because we are not stressed .

I guess this is an attempt to blame  vaccinnes but it's a combination of poor health and annual fluctuations- some are up, some are down.  As the report says "the warning signs have been present for over a decade."
