seems that those who anticipated the concert dates for Oasis and booked hotel rooms have had their accepted bookings revoked.

do we accept the hotel's explanation of a system error? or is this a cynical momey-making move to extract maximum revenue?

Well if it was anything other that a cynical dosh making exercise they'd re book the rooms for the same people at the same price wouldn't they?

It depends on what the contract says

"we reserve the right to cancel at short notice and without reason any booking" seems a bit harsh - and against the Contract Unfair terms act

bbut there is a lot of money to be made if you can swing it

Situation normal for Edinburgh in August though, the dates are just after the Fringe starts too so a double win for the hotels etc .

How could anyone anticipate that?

More like friends and relatives of those who knew the dates and locations. I can't muster alot of sympathy for them tbh.
