Even surprised myself!

Been pondering this for a while now, due to some circumstance changes, and decided to bite the bullet.

Bought a Ninja today, a two drawer one, it's sitting in its allotted space in the kitchen waiting to be used.

Any committed air fryer owners have any constructive things they'd like to share with a complete novice?

cook stuff in it & eat it?

sorry - not very constructive!

Experiment. As I recall my woman didn't get things exactly right initially but after using it a while she found out what things needed more time than suggested, what less, etc..

Plenty of menu suggestions on the Net. But just try what you normally cook, checking advice for that thing on the Net first.

I would genuinely like to know why you bought it

It will be a bit of experimental stuff at the beginning. The air fryer cooks a lot faster and hotter than the oven so you need to experiment with times and temperatures.

When I first had mine, I destroyed lots of oven chips. They came out like twigs! 5 minutes less and 20 degrees than the packet instructions seemed to work. A lot of packaging now has air fryer instructions. Mine is now perfect for a variety of foods...chips, sausages, chops, steak, roast potatoes, baked goods and on and on. I congratulate myself as to not heating up a big oven and using less electricity than previously.

Just take your time to get used to it. Good luck.

Just be prepared to burn a few things at first.

I cook steak, chips, makes a grand job of crumpets and toast, boil eggs without water, fish fingers, sausages, Yorkshire pudding. At the end of the day it's just a mini oven, you're warming a smaller space to save power. Most books I've seen are rubbish, search online for recipes.

It's got to be cheaper to boil eggs on a hob

They might heat up quicker but it takes a lot of electricity to reach temp in a very short space of time. I often look  at air fryer cooking times, and a lot of them are not much quicker than conventional ovens. I use gas and I think it's cheaper it also heats the kitchen in winter.

But it's also a smaller volume to heat up & maintain.

My large combi microwave has a flat bed and two shelves.  It cooks lovely chips made from raw potatoes very quickly using the convection and microwave together.

Surely the dual drawer air fryer has two heating elements?

Recipe times are not the Holy Grail, experiment and learn the characteristics of your own fryer.

When cooking new items, I tend to open the drawer once or twice during cooking to check progress. If you're quick, very little is lost in terms of heat because the volume is so small (it works for me anyway).

I've read all the positives and negatives about air fryers and decided that, as I said, due to a change in circumstances, Ill give it a go.

Time will tell as to whether or not it becomes a waste of time, money and space, but in the meantime I'm going to give it a fair go and thank everyone for their useful and constrictive advice x

Or even their constructive advice πŸ™„

Sorry, Vagus, I strayed and apologised.

Let us know how you get on😊

Barry, I'm really not sure why you think an apology is necessary, I can't see anything you've posted that warrants one...but I'll gracefully accept it πŸ˜‰

i watch a lot of Butlers empire for recipes ,they make it amusing as well ,their bread and butter pudding and spotted dick  is lovely ,lots of recipes shown ,very easy to follow. they use the Ninja duel or corsari  x

Thanks for the tip Mally πŸ‘

I love my air-fryer and wouldn't be without it, however I sustained a burn on mine through sheer carelessness a few months ago and still have the mark on my arm to show for it now.  It bloody hurt !!
