Its Halloween, so what are you doing tonight?

Do you typically sit in darkness and avoid the trick or treaters, and not answer the door?

Or do you go around the houses with your child or children actually taking part in the trick or treating?

Either way we cant really avoid Halloween, unless you go to the pub, or live in a cave, or under a rock.

Personally I typically take my now 9 year old daughter out trick or treating, and let my partner stay at home dealing with answering the door, but I have to confess I do enjoy it. I'm hoping my daughter doesn't grow out of it just yet. My eldest daughter who is now 20, grew out of Halloween by she was 10, so this could be my last Halloween doing trick or treating.

What will you be doing tonight, oh and what is a typical age for a child to grow out of it?

My son is adult now, we will be getting a takeaway tea and watching some Halloween TV - the finale of Agatha All Along and then The Thing (1982 one).

We moved a few months ago and our front door isn't accessible from the sreet so we won't have any trick or treaters calling this year.

I can't recall when he grew out of trick or treating, we used to to do house arties more than go door knocking anyway, but aournd 10 is probably about right

When you say 'trick or treat' do you mean 'guising'?

Dressing up and going to neighbours, telling a joke or singing a wee song to earn a reward rather than just standing there demanding something for nothing?

We don't get any t & TS here so it pretty much passes us by

Well I have just had the best news I've had in a very long time, much awaited for news, although I won't elaborate if you don't mind. In short though we are going to have a little private celebration at home. I am so happy I could burst and we can go away with the kids this weekend and really enjoy ourselves.

Should say we're not doing anything hallowe'en related. None of us is really into it to be honest.

curlyfries81,

Does that mean you sit there in the dark to avoid the door constantly being knocked? Thats how it is around here 👻

I was a bit surprised this year, we just seen kids out trick or treating when it's not yet dark. I've never witnessed that before. The whole idea is to wait for darkness.

Are kids becoming more impatient?

No, more sensible. (Mums' insistence.)

We never really get trick or treaters thankfully.  I don't like answering the door late at night.

curlyfries81,

It's not late at night though.

We been out for an hour and just got home. Still loads of children out though.

I'm returning to my home. Hopefully missing this awful, demand with menaces, American heist, while I'm on the road.

Might sacrifice a cockerel to the Old Gods, maybe a goat, dunno yet. Or might just read a book with a cup of hot choclate. Still deciding.

Great to see you in good form nailedit, hope you are keeping well x

Thank you ellie 😁

Worse than Jehovahs Witnesses. Door never answered after dark.

Having a normal evening - the village facebook page tends toorganise the routes of the mums and kids.

Rarely get any trick or treaters as am on the upper 2 floors of a block of maisonettes. Just as well as I had a migraine a bit over an hour ago. ...still feel fuzzy headed.

Normal night. No bother.
