I have been prescribed 10mg three times daily to deal with panic attacks. How long will should it be until I begin feeling the positive effects of the tablets?

propranolol is a beta blocker you should feel a positive physical effect quite soon... as for the recurrence of the panic attacks...guess it depends on what's causing them

Hi there, if you look here:

It gives details as to what they do and how they work.

Good Luck.

Your propanolol will ease the palpitations and regulate your heartbeat but it is a not mood-altering drug. By dealing with the heart symptoms, it helps by stopping you feeling like you are having a heart attack or something. Some people, like actors, take just one before a performance to help with stage fright. You should feel the effect of the drug almost straight away.

As for stopping the panic attacks, there are lots of ways to tackle these. Go to www.nomorepanic.co.uk and read up on it - it's really helpful. Check out the forums on there too, as there are lots of people there who have used propanolol.

Good luck.
