puffy eyelids after eyebrow waxing

[Why??]

I had my eyebrows waxed yesterday, and this morning my eyelid area is puffy and the area that was waxed is a bit pink and warm. Is there anything I can do to sooth it? Is it a reaction to the wax? or the stuff they use afterwards to get the wax off?

Hi Why, it's just a reaction to having the hair pulled out at the roots. My eyebrows go exactly the same each time I get them waxed and there's not much that I can do about it really.

I find it's not such a good idea to put a cold cream on them as I end up getting tiny little spots because I have put cream into the open pores.

This redness and puffiness should only last 24 hours :)

It sounds like a reaction to the wax as the eye area is very delicate, the eyelid shouldnt swell up sounds a bit much for just waxing redness which should only last an hour or two. Take some antihistimine medicine, and next time look for a threader or sugaring. Sugaring is a very natural wax and shouldnt make you react.

Try crushing some ice cubes and wrapping them in a couple of layers of cloth ( a tea towel would be fine ) and gently holding this to the affected area.

Try dabbing a little aloe vera gel or tea tree oil onto your eyebrow - i have v sensitive skin and find that this helps

Our daughter has done a beautician's course at college, including waxing, but she still plucks my eyebrows.

I have my legs waxed, etc., but wouldn't dream of having it done on sensitive places like around the eyes.
