White teeth

I use a whitening toothpaste daily, but it doesn't seem to be having any effect.

Has anyone used any whitening product that actually works?

I can't afford proffessional mega bucks treatment!

smokers tooth powder even if u dont smoke this will work you will notice the diffrence.tink

Apparently drinking tea, coffee and red wine will all reduce the effectiveness of whitening products as will smoking. I was told that if I did any of the above (I do all of them) the results of toothpastes etc will be negligible. The only way to brighter gnashers is by professional dental bleaching.

Hi Fairy! I drink tea and coffee and I smoke but my teeth are pretty white. I use Macleans total and whitening which is pretty great, I did use Colgate but that did nothing at all. I'd recommend the Macleans!

Hi fairy, I use the same as irisred, with a Brauns electric toothbrush, I used to smoke, rollups. and there is definately an improvement, quite chuffed really.

The absolute best kit you can get is the crest white strips - they are amazing and there's a major difference in 2 weeks!

The only place I have seen them to buy in the UK is on ebay though.

are your teeth actually stained fairy? Because if they aren't, if your teeth are just naturally less than white, then whitening toothpastes won't do anything - they can only remove/prevent stains, not actually bleach teeth whiter. To do that, the procedures are expensive I'm afraid.

I don't smoke but I do drink coffee etc. I just looked at some photos which were taken at the weekend & was horrified at how yellow my teeth look! Eeeek!!

I've used Colegate whitening every day for about a year but it clearly hasn't done anything!

I bought some Pearl Drops today as it was on special offer & will have a look for those strips on ebay!

I use a product called Perfect Smile - spray it on once a day after cleaning your teeth, leave for 40 seconds & rinse. It's made by an Australian company called Skin Doctors, costs about �18 a bottle but lasts for ages & does work (even on me, and I smoke & drink loads of tea!) If you google it you'll get lots of UK distributors - check to see who'se got the best offer on at the mo.

Whitening toothpastes DO NOT make your teeth whiter (the product name is misleading)

They work by abrasion i.e. they remove surface stains such as red whine, coffee etc.. However they will not change the natural colour of your teeth, worse still they WILL remove surface enamel and allow the more yellow dentine to shine through making them darker!!!
