Psoriasis is a horrid chronic inflammatiory skin condition that no one is 100% sure of the cause. I may be related to a gene haplotype . Triggers such as some drugs, smoking, stress and infection may also cause a flare up. It causes the top layer of the skin (epidermis) to grow faster than normal and as a result produces raised, scaly plaques. If it is really getting you down, have you told your gp this? There a lots of treatments available, if the ones he hasn't given you don't work is it:
a. definetly psoriasis
b. time to be referred to a dermatologist?
Yes, UVB and UVA rays are used for some people as treatment in hospitals but this is done under very controlled conditions and the selection of the wave length is different to that in normal sunbeds. I wouldn't advise long term or overuse of a sunbed for obvious reasons.
Hope you get ot sorted!

My sympathies as well abby, I too am a sufferer.
I can also reccomend Synalar gel - rub it in before you go to bed, and after a few weeks you should see some improvement.
You might want to try Dovobet ointment on your tummy - that helps my body scaling quite a lot
Try changing your diet - cut out as much dairy produce as you can, and wash your hair with really mild shampoo.
Two pieces of good news - if the condition stops in one place - either body or scalp, it usually clears up elsewhere as well, and secondly, you may grow out of this in a few years, some people do.
