I (and everyone else around here) has had this dratted fly bug that's been doing the rounds for weeks now. The doc gave me a week of low level antibiotics to try and help clear my chesty cough. It got better briefly but has started up again, particularly at night. The potions you buy from the chemist don't seem to help. Any advice for helping me (and my partner) get a good night's sleep. Ta.

Honey, lemon juice and hot water - drink gallons of this to keep your throat soothed and lubricated.

Co-op own-brand bronchial mixture is fabulous for loosening gunge from your chest - sip small amounts frequently for best results.

Karvol on your pillow helps too.

All in One by Beechams is fab. My home remedy is lemon juice, honey and some hot pepper sauce (tiny drop or two). It hits the back of the throat a blummin treat.

Get yourself some echinacea, vitamin C, garlic, zinc and anti-histimines to get over the cold quicker.

I recommend sudafed dual action or a regular dose of paracetamol!

I agree with chazza - I always recommend echinacea whenever you feel a cold or flu coming on, or someone around you is ill or sneezy. And of course Vitamin C tablets.
