How can I get my voice back?

Hi, I haven't had a voice for nearly 4 weeks. I've been to the doctor 3 times and they just say that its a virus but all my other symtoms have gone. Anyone been in this situation or have any suggestions?

I had it once and it comes back every year. And the doctor told me that it's virus too. He gave me penicillin and it brought my voice back.

i had this at christmas, but not for as long as that. i used lemsip and tyrozets. they worked best for me, but i had a full blown cold as well. go figure :D

Cluck, do you mind me asking if you are a heavy smoker? If the answer is yes and your voice does not return within the next few weeks insist you ask for a referral to see a Specialist. I have good reason to mention this. Hope it returns soon though.

Steam inhalations are very cold, worth trying. However go back to the doctor and even take someone with you and insist on a referal to ENT for a proper check on the cause.

My sister has a form of asthma that causes the same thing to happen to her.

Im not a heavy smoker, and have never smoked. Iwas diagnosed with mild asthma a few years ago but I haven't had anything happen for a year or two. Dotor says I have to wait until its been 6 weeks for a referral to the ENT specialist. Had blood test though. Thanks for all the advice.
