Whats the best/quickest treatment for thrush?

home remedy is plain live youghart of which you applie to the area or get to the dr's and they will perscribe a pessery and cream or you can buy that over the counter its called ONCE but it cost about �8_�10 your choice

Asteroid is right about the yoghurt, and as he/she says, its important that its live yoghurt. Thrush is best treated from the inside to get rid of it completely, so I would suggest eating the live yoghurt, 2-3 pots a day. Applying to the affected area will help the itching, but may not get rid of it completely. You need to be very careful of course, not to mix your pots up!. Also careful hygiene, wash with cool/tepid water at least twice a day, wear cotton underwear and avoid tight fitting trousers (pruming your thrush is in that area! Hope it goes soon.

I've never tried the yoghurt thing, and I have nothing against it in principle, but I find that the canniston combi works brilliantly. (the cream and the pessary). I'd suggest putting the pessary in at night and wearing a sanitary towel as it can be a bit messy, but it really does work. Use the cream during the day. Should go in a day or two.

'Cannistan' will work very effectively, but ask your pharmacist for the genetic equivalent, (i.e. 'Clotrimazole' - it's the same stuff but without the tradename. It'll be about half the price).

canesten duo gives you an oral tablet and 2% cream. Highly effective and works relatively instantly.

Tesco do their own version of the Diflucan tablet which contains exactly the same ingredients, but is much cheaper.

I would buy the pessary alone from the pharmacy. I've found the cream to be totally bloody useless!

Another great tip is stuff called Bio Fem Actigel. It's a natural plant-based gel which normalises the pH of your vagina, thus making it more difficult for thrush to grow. It comes with a nozzle for easy application, and can be used at any time.
