When one is embarassed, why is it that only your cheeks go red and no other part of your body?

Not everyone blushes. I think it's because those people who DO blush have their blood vessels near the surface of their cheeks, and the event which causes the blushing actually causes a faster rush of blood, which then becomes visible because of those near surface blood vessels. Mind you, I am guessing.
