face powder!!

My skin is very dry, but when I put on (Boots no.7) foundation and then powder, it literally flakes off everywhere- NOT nice! I checked the ingredients of the face powder and was surprised to see the ingredients are mainly TALC!! talc has always made my skin horribly tight and dry.

Do you think I am allergic to the foundation, or all face powders? What can I use instead? THANKS

Most face powders are made with talc.

I believe there are some you can buy which claim to be moisturising, but I don't quite understand that logic.

Perhaps you'd be better buying one of the foundations with the powder finish? That might be a little kinder for your skin. xxx

I trained as a beauty therapist so I would recommend you don't use powder at all and not even a powder finish foundation.

If you have a nice even skin tone I would use tinted moisturiser (body shop do a good one) if its cover you want then use foundation for dry skin.

No powder though!!!! xxxxx

I've got dry skin too and always find when wearing foundation that after about 5 mins of applying it feels like I'm wearing a face mask and I can crack it. My sis who's a beautician said it was because I needed to get a foundation to suit my skin so I've now got a lovely foundation from Clinique which has got some oil in it so it's lovely amd smooth to put on and feels soft all day. Yes it's a bit more pricey but it's worth all the money. Go and see someone at a beauty counter who knows what he/she is talking about to get some advice and recommendations and remember: ask for samples. They don't give it unless you ask but they will give you little pots where they'll squirt a little foundation into so if you want to try a couple of different ones it's good idea. Or even if you find one you like ask for a sample as you want to try it on you skin for a couple of days as no one can get a proper feel from 5 mins in the shop.
