Oks, I've been on antibiotics for 2 days and I'm getting under uncomfortable 'down there' (yes, I'm a girl). It's never happened with other antibiotics and I've never had thrush etc so I don't know what i'm looking for. I might have mumps so I can't leave the house until I go for my blood test to double check which might not be til wednesday. What can I do? It's really damned uncomfortable. And no. I have no natural yoghurt. Not sure what details I can put on here as regarding symptoms, but I'm all red and itchy, discharge is fairly normal only it's kinda pinky. I'm freaking out guys! This is the last thing I need!

Hi Morrisonker, thrush is kind if itchy and since your're really under the weather, the anti biotics are probably causing havoc for you!!! the doc can give you caneston on script, is there any one that can get it for you and deliver it? also, i wonder if the mumps is just about affecting every part of you? men get it down there so perhaps women get affected down there too...

Are you drinking as much fluid as you can missus?

i'm really feeling sorry for you darling, big cyber hugs and love to you... :-)

Thanks for the kind words honey :) I'm sure I can get my mum to grab some for me. I'm guzzling water as much as I can, hopefully it's helping.

Sigh. It's another thing, y'know?

you're really going through it at the mo aren't you? i had measles and rubella when i was a brat, but it's really not nice as an adult, where on earth do you think you caught it? can i ask how old you are hun?
discharge is normally thick, white (like cottage cheese, how pleasant!!) but sometimes there is not much discharge and the itch is the main problem. Can someone go get you canesten? You can get a 2% cream which is really effective, also pessaries or an oral tablet. The oral tablet is called fluconazole so just check with pharmacist it is ok to take with your anti-b's first. Another give away for thrush is the discharge can have a sour, yeasty smell also.

Antibiotics kill ALL the bacteria- good and bad, and this often causes thrush because it upsets the natural balance. Thrush will be very itchy and red (due to scratching) and discharge may well be thicker than normal with white little bits in. Pinkness comes from a bit of blood.

Get someone to go the chemists for you and buy you some "canesten once". You can also buy canesten as a cream to help with the itching.

natural yogurt is also good, you can eat it to clear the thrush from you system and apply some to ease discomfort.

I'm 20. Found out my ex has already had mumps, so i think maybe he had the bug and passed it on to me without getting effected. damned shame, would love to have seen him in some discomfort >_<

I'll ask my practice nurse when i go for my blood test, hopefully tomorrow. I think I can pick up some canesten in the surgery pharmacy. Doesn't sound like it's thrush though. God. If the Ex has given me something horrible I'm going to bring down fire and brimstone on his ass! Rage!
