STD Testing?
Today I went for a thorough STD test, not becasue ive been carless in the past, but just because i wanted to make sure. The nurse took samples from my throat urethra and cervix and looked at them under the microscope and told me that although she could not see any problems they were required to send them away for second opinion. I forgot to ask her what STD's she was looking for in the slides. Could anyone tell me? I also gave a sample of blood (a big deal for me as i have a phobia of needles and blood - im proud of myself) and i also gave a sample of urine. what would they test these samples for? i know my urine sample is tested for chlamydia, but would it not have been looked for under the microscope as well? i would like to kow about what she looked for and couldnt find on the slide to slightly ease my mind (i get paranoid too) thanks for any help. (i cant ring up the clinic becasue its not open again until friday, but i may ring up another if no one has any ideas. thanks

Takes about a week for the results - the clinic I've attendec (because I'm a responsible adult!) sends the all-clear result in a text message :)
so if people have a STD test they have lax moral vales? thats a bit harsh. some people have them cos they are trying to be sensible and responsible like me. i was sensible when it came to sex, this is just a precaution! like alot of people, STD tests are just to make sure. We are not all tarred with the same brush as some 14 year old chav who cant keep her knickers up!!
I don't have any answers for you I'm afraid but don't listen to the 'no-brainers' who decided to slate you. Its perfectly safe, healthy and clever to go and get yourself checked out at the clinic, whether you have been careless once or a hundred times. It only takes once to catch something and you have taken the adult approach and done something about it. Better to be safe than sorry in cases like this. I would do the same. Don't be put off by the people on here making uncalled for comments. At the end of the day you are putting your health first and thats what matters. What is the NHS for if its not to help us and assist us with things we would have no idea about on our own? I am sure the results will be fine and I am sure you aren't some stupid careless person. As I said it only takes once. I have never had unprotected sex but once the condom split so I went to the clinic. I didn't for one second think I was wasting their time. Thats what they are there for. If we all sat at home thinking it would be a waste of the NHS's time if we popped down the GP's then we might all have some serious problems to be dealing with!
Dot and Bob.... Shame on you! Grow up.
And another thing 'old Dottie'... I actually thought that Ladygarden was an existing user who had opened up a new user name to ask this Q because it was a personal Q and maybe she didn't want anyone knowing her normal user ID. If thats incorrect then sorry Ladygarden and welcome to AB. :o)
But Dottie... I REALLY don't think you are one to be preaching about alias's and user names. We all know you have more names than anyone else!
You maybe from a different generation but my Q to you is 'Was an adult approach to sex not promoted in your day?'
It only takes once to catch something... and as everyone else here has stated you don't even have to have uprotected sex to catch things either so unless you are so frigid old virgin with her hymen still intact.. I suggest you stop preaching to the group.
Im sorry but I cant answer your question but Id just like to point out that all pregnant women are offered an HIV test at their midwife appointment. I had mine done because I had previously been in a relationship where my partner was unfaithfull. I am in no way a slag but for peace of mind and the future of my child got tested. I see no shame in being careful.
As for being a fake as others have suggested, I cant see it. The fakes on here have been out to cause trouble and i dont see how your question would.
Oh and im with you on the needle front, next time you need injections ask for emla cream before the jab. You dont feel a thing then.
