How can you train a bloke to be tidy and help out around the house?

I have tried everything: doing it myself, rewards, going on strike and nothing has worked. I am in the process of going to relate and one of the main issues is his lack of domestic responsibility (he does little around the house). He is not a chauvernist and says he wants to do more but a) doesn't know where to start B) doesn't know where to put things c) doesn't really like to do it. Yesterday I came home from work (he doesn't work) to pots on the side and the rest. Today I have been looking at houses and am seriously considering moving out. Good Luck!

My wife is away on a hen week ( yes a week ffs! ) she left on Wednesday and today the house looks like a bomb has hit it! God knows what it will look like by next Weds!

Treat them like you'd treat a dog.. for every good deed he gets a reward... be it sexual or being able to watch the football.. he will soon learn! ;o)

You tidy up, but he does not.

Can you tell me why you are even with him !

Sounds to me as though he is just lazy, and taking advantage of you. Maybe his mother let him get away with doing nothing.

Stop tidying up.

Stop cooking meals for him, either just cook for yourself or eat out on your own or with friends.

Stop any sexual activity.

If he cannot be bothered with the ralationship then make it clear you are not bothered either.

He either changes his way or you end the relationship.

You can't: we're programmed to be untidy. My wife has just given up with me and goes with the flow.

As for helping: I do 95% of the cooking and 95% of the shopping, so we think that it's fair enough that she does all the tidying.

My bloke does work. Tidying the house i think is a separate issue from the relationship. There wouldn't be any couples living together if it wasn't! ;o) I wouldn't give up a great guy over an untidy house, i just need to train him to be a bit more helpful! Im sure he will as he gets older! Must be because his mum always did everything for him, whereas mine made me to do things for myself once i was 16.

Going on strike doesn't work, the house just gets dirtier and messier and i can't live like that so end up sorting it out! I think rewards must be the only way...

i've tried everything going for the last 7 years to get my husband to be more tidy but nothing has worked! he says he doesn't like tidying up. neither do i but i can't live in a messy house! his mum always did everything for him whereas i had to be self-sufficient. i've given up now i'm fed up of listening to myself nagging him! he's pretty good in every other way so i can't have everything i suppose!!

You can't sammd. There was a study done somewhere, and they found that men don't see dirt and mess the same way women do. Mmm, I wonder if it was a man who conducted the study???x
