I have been told i talk in my sleep. Its a frequent event, my parents often say they hear me and when i stay over at friends they comment upon it. I used to sleepwalk frequently when i was younger, but i was curious, why do i sleeptalk somuch when none of my friends ever seem to. Out of all the people i know i am the only person to do it.

I too talk in my sleep very frequently. Luckily most of my utterings are incomprehensible and so there is little chance of me u knowingly leaking embarassing info during sleep. In my school days I was also known to babble in french. Fortunately, over the years my boyfriends have found my habit rather endearing and so I'm not bothered to 'cure' it. Does anyone know what causes this?
I sleep talk too, even more so than when i was younger (20 now). I tend to sleep talk more when i have a lot on my mind like lots of things to remember and things to do etc. Similar to Beenee i also speak German in my sleep too, but i know why i do that! It's not harmful really? But if u think it coincides with when u have a lot to worry about then probably it is the things that u are worrying about that u should try and resolve and perhaps the sleep talkin may stop? It is suggested it is linked to dreaming, acting as a mechanism for making sense of what u encountered in the day and that u talk because the the lobe involved with speech and auditory info is not switched off because ure mind is so active. Just a few suggestions ... not sayin they are the definate reasons! T x
I'm another sleeptalker ... I can also confirm that its worse when I have something on my mind. Over the years my Husband has just got used to it. In fact when I went away for a few nights he couldn't sleep as it was too quiet!!!
seems like it's more common in women, - so far,
I've talked in my sleep for years...even been known to sing on occasion......and having discussed this with various circles of friends it seems to be the more creative and artistic people who display this trait.....i could be completely wrong but it's what i've found...and also i have found that the more vivid a dream the louder my sleep talking.
