Make sure there is a separate area for tattooing away from the waiting room. Make sure they open the new needle in front of you. Don't rely on needle packets lying around and assume the needle is new. Make sure they tip the ink out of the bottle into little cups, then someone elses needle hasn't been in your ink. Make sure they wear gloves.
Go on your instincts. If you aren't happy with the tattooist, don't get one done.
