Baby
Hi everyone. I am 9 weeks pregnant and starting to get a bit paranoid that I am starting to show already. Is this possible? I am about 5"3' and about a size 8 with a flat stomach normally. This is my first baby. I went out with my boyfriend to watch the England game on Tuesday and had to change my top 5 times as I definately had a belly that started from under my boobs. At first I put it down to weight gain and maybe trapped wind. But 3 days later and I still have it. I have eaten sensibly and exercised in the last three days and accoring to the scales have lost a pound (I am not dieting just being sensible) but my belly is still there! I haven't got my scan for another 3 weeks so am now starting to get paranoid that it is twins. My boyfriends Mum is a twin!!! Please can you advise?? When is it normal to start having a bump?? thanks in advance :o)

The fact that you are so slim usually will mean that any extra weight or water will show slightly.
You cant tell if its twins until you have your scan as a slight bump doesnt mean a thing.
I wish you all the best with your scan and pregnancy, its a wonderful part of life. :-)

Hi, I was 5 ft and size 6/8 when I fell pregnant with my little girl, and I started to show immediately (but only to me), for months I had a belly, but the girls I work with told me I didn't, because my belly was soooo flat (oh the days), before I was pregnant, that a slight bump wasn't really that noticable to anyone else but me.
Only, even before I found out I was pregnant, a top I had bought 7 days earlier no longer fitted me.
Hope that makes sense. Congrats on your pregnancy by the way.

I didn't buy any maternity clothes with my first and with my second I used to tell people I was six weeks further on than I really was becasue I was so embarrassed about how huge I was! Most of it was water in fact and my baby was a normal size- both were of average weight and build. It is common to change shape early. Throw those scales away now!
If it was twins it wouldn't make that much difference to your size as they would both still be very tiny at nine weeks. It's the water that makes the bump at this stage of pregnancy. I was showing at around 7 weeks with my first pregnancy. There are twins in both my parents families & both my husbands parents families so I was a little worried at first but my midwife told me what I've just told you.
Congratulations.
