pain in boyfriend's stomach

Hi, don't know if any of you will have any ideas as to what may be worng with my boyfriend? - for a good few days now he has had a pain in his left side, kind of in the stomach/abdominal area. me and his mum have a few ideas as to what it might be: for 3 days he was drinking heavily (last saturday til monday), as it was people's birthdays and he had monday off work. All 3 days were like, 12 hours worth of drinking. He has also recently started making fruit smoothies. He's never eaten so much fruit before!! So we think it could either be something to do with the drink, or maybe he's over doing it with the fruit intake, like too much acid. He really feels uncomfortable with the pain, and it hurts if he presses on the area. He finds it uncomfrtale sitting down. I thought at first it may be appendicitis, but its on the wrong side. Does anyone have any possible ideas? He does have a Doctors appointment tonight, but i just wanted to put his mind at rest before then.

I don't want to worry you in any way but he could have acute Pancreatitis. Usually brought on after a few days on the booze. But I'm no doctor.

Appendicitis doesn't necessarily hurt on the right-hand side (where it is), can be either or both.

Yeah we tried the emergency doctors appointment but apparently his surgery dont do emergency appointments!! I thought every surgery did! Anyway, he is going to the hospital tonight, there is a walk-in deprtment there that he can go to after work and hopefully they'll be able to see whats wrong!
