Nostalgia

Have we always been nostalgic? Is it a healthy state of mind to be in? Does it mean we're afraid of what the future holds and prefer to look back, often with rose tinted glasses?

Therefore remembering great things in the past can become a great pastime. I don't think there is anything wrong with being nostalgic as long as a person is not living in the past, and ignoring the beauty in each passing day.
I think as we get older it's a way of re-living some happy times particularly in your childhood. Having lost my dad and all my grandparents now I like to remember the holidays when they were all with us. I try to explain to my children life without mobiles, computers, only 3 t.v. channels, they can't imagine it and think it must have been so boring - but it wasn't. Didn't know any different did we? At a very young age I remember roaming woods and fields on my own, the dangers were there but it is something I would never let my young children do now.
