I read recently about the dangers associated with aluminium. Does anybody know the name of an aluminium free deodrant? I checked the ingredients of hundreds of deodrants but they all had aluminium in.
Most deodorants etc, contain aluminium oxide which is insoluble in water. It is only soluble aluminium compounds which are suspected of causing Alzheimer's etc.
Just a little asside, but Aluminium Oxide is also saphire....got any in a ring? Completely inert, it takes some powerful chemistry to react with saphire.
This is similar to an asthma allergy I had. To be correct, the deodorant itself does not contain aluminium, it's the actual propellant in the aerosol. You should find that all roll-on deodorants are ok.
kendunlop, could you explain where you hear this. Arosols are propelled by compressed gas, formally cfcs, now often butane. Aluminium has very few compounds wich are gasious and none you would want to spry about. I think that the spry on deoderents just contain different materail. For example a fine aluminium powder will absorbe moisture and therefore dry the skin. The is no sence in putting this in a roll on wich is natrually wet.
All health food shops stock aluminium free deodorants (at least they do here in Australia). Also don't cook with aluminium pots either. There's a book called Earthway, by Mary Summer Rain which will explain why.
many people are making the switch to aluminum-free deodorants. The aluminum found in many name brand deodorants has been linked to an increased risk for Alzheimer's, brain and respiratory disorders, and even certain types of cancer..
