Every now and then I suddenly cant breath, like my throat suddenly closes up and its like I'm choking. Will come on whenever really, I have been on phone at work before and just had to hang up because I cant talk or breath, and I also sometimes wake up with it. Does this happen to anybody else? I try and drink water but really I just have to wait till it wears off.
I have been to GP before where all he could do was try put a mini camera down my throat. He didnt get very far as I wouldnt let him do it, it freaked me out. Just wondered if anyone else got it. Panic attack could be likely, but then I cant see what I'm panicking about.
Well sometimes I think if you're dehydrated or lightheaded (perhaps if you hyperventilate) then it could have similar symptons to panic attack... and I know that my throat did a similar thing in the attack I had. Don't quote me tho. What about phoning NHS Direct if you can't face the GP?
Does sound rather like a panic attack where you hyperventilate and breathe so quickly that the air doesn't have a chance to get down into your lungs and inflate them. However, you really need to talk to your GP about this. One suggestion for dealing with this situation is to keep a big brown paper bag handy and blow it up. Then stuff it around your nose and keep deeply breathing in the air from it VERY SLOWLY. Give your lungs time to inflate and your throat may then relax its tension.
i have stopped breathing 3 times, ok i know it sounds crazy but its true. it always happened at night when i was asleep, i stopped breathing and woke up immedietly gasping for breath, it it was nt for my husband being there patting my back and encouraging me to breath i would'nt be here now, i wonder if babies stop breathing like this anmd why theres such tragedies, if it happened while parents sleep, its a scary thought.
