Heat Exhaustion
Heat exhaustion is more serious than heat cramps. It occurs when the body's internal air-conditioning system is overworked, but hasn't completely shut down. In heat exhaustion, the surface blood vessels and capillaries which originally enlarged to cool the blood collapse from loss of body fluids and necessary minerals. This happens when you don't drink enough fluids to replace what you're sweating away.
The symptoms of heat exhaustion include: headache, heavy sweating, intense thirst, dizziness, fatigue, loss of coordination, nausea, impaired judgment, loss of appetite, hyperventilation, tingling in hands or feet, anxiety, cool moist skin, weak and rapid pulse (120-200), and low to normal blood pressure.
Somebody suffering these symptoms should be moved to a cool location such as a shaded area or air-conditioned building. Have them lie down with their feet slightly elevated. Loosen their clothing, apply cool, wet cloths or fan them. Have them drink water or electrolyte drinks. Try to cool them down, and have them checked by medical personnel. Victims of heat exhaustion should avoid strenuous activity for at least a day, and they should continue to drink water to replace lost body fluids.

That's exact;y what my 18 year old son has Kick except when he went to the Dr his blood pressure was through the roof. She put his intense sickness, nausea and general feeling of debiliatation solely down to the heat. He's been like a dead a thing for nearly a week and usually he's hale and hearty. It's not something that came on suddenly and lasted a day with him he's been like it for the last 7 days or so with a headache so bad he's been crying with pain, so maybe you've got the same thing Dot?
Hi Nox, sorry to hear your son's been so unwell, it does sound awful. What did the doc suggest/prescribe?? One of my friends, who works as a window cleaner, has had the same thing this past week, cos obviously, he's out in the sun all day, every day. Not nice at all. Hope your lad is on teh mend soon Nox. tc xx (p.s. hugs to Spud lol)
She gave him some dihydrocodeine for the pain and told him to drink and drink and stay cool at all costs, so he's been in the pool a lot at the shady end and although the painkillers work better than the stuff you can get in the chemists he's still not very well. I think the Brits and Irish just aren't cut out for weather like this, we just shut down."Spud" is fine thanks and sends her love, proper little madam that she is, got me wrapped round her little finger:)
