Questions like this from you will, I'm afraid always meet with the same reaction. Maybe you should try and find more productive ways to spend your time than this? I hope that you can see the error of your ways soon, and go out and do some good in the world eh? Provocation of this nature can start wars.
As someone who has a relative who went through this at Christmas...
... my personal opinion is that if the quality of life is so poor that it makes your insides hurt with sadness when you see your loved one in such a condition, it is, of course, far kinder to bring an end to it.
In our case, the doctors were excellent and explained everything very clearly. Some members of the family were unsure initially, but the medical team kind of 'made' the decision which was just as it should be.
With a child involved... i dunno. Couldn't comment.

to answer your question then, my sister was offically classed as brain dead and between the doctors and my father thay made the decision to switch the machines keeping her alive off, she left behind 3 young daughters and the hardest thing i have every had to do is to try to explain to a 5 and 6 year old why they could see there mothers heart beating whn they had been told she had died (the machines were kept on so her organs could be transplanted). when you post q's like this you must realise that some people would of been in these situations, or are you really that stupid and insensative
