Many thanks for thinking of me ~ I had been very busy for a few days (actually doing some work, lol). When I read that it had got booted I was flummoxed, especially considering the amount of crap that can surface on B&S..
As a side note, this thread has turned into a chat/argument thread has it not? ;o)

I've disagreed with nearly everyone on here at some point, often quite seriously, however it's nothing to do with being in a clique, there are no cliques just some of us know each other and some don't know each other so well. There are posters I like and posters I can't stand and some threads that are utter s***e and some that aren't. However it doesn't take a genius to appreciate that dot's thank you thread should have stood, it should not have been reported by anyone with an ounce of common sense ( glad you got the advice dot and hope your son does alright) for any of the usual trivial ( non question) reasons etc. People are going to get rattled if little job's worths run around the site reporting something whereby someone is offering their heartfelt thanks especially if that hurtful troll is involved anywhere. You caught the rough end of it tonight because for some reason you can't see that. It's not about differences of opinion, it's about what is morally ok and to report a thank you thread is rude and offensive to most people. I understand you didn't report it yourself btw but you are vociferuously sticking up for people's rights to report thank you's which is absurd.
Hi nox, I think because of the nature of the question Dot has been really upset by all this, it was a personal question which Dot doesn't usually post about, she likes to help others. It does put you off posting a personal question on here at the moment because you either get reported ( and for what)....or get a nasty reply.
don't know, dot; but when you post on a public forum, you always run the risk of people disagreeing, however sensitive the topic. But looking at kazza's posts, she seems to have been firm but in no way rude or abusive. Like I said, I don't agree with what she said; but I think polite dissent is always ok.
and like i said jno, why do this now? Why pick on a thread that is exactly what b& S should be about, I am not happy at all over the way this whole issue has gone, Belle Fast's attempts to help have been sidelined, ridiculed, trivialised and mocked, plus banned, removed and reported, it is pathetic, and we wonder why ABers are supposedly leaving in their droves, but never mind, new ones will join eh?
yeah, I know it's unpleasant; but basically, it's not kazza who's been unpleasant - she's been politer than the people who argued with her - it's whoever reported your thread initially. I'm guessing the Ed will know or be able to find out who it was, but it's typical that it happens on a Friday night so nothing will be done for days. Maybe the new Mod could put in some after-hours work. Or maybe they could hire a Mod who lives in the USA - she could be at work sorting this sort of thing out now when it's only early evening over there; the Ed being a Yank herself must know someone over there who could pitch in with a hose and some Dettol.
i can kind of understand where kazza is coming from - but i just think she chose the wrong thread to make a stand with.
she clearly gets upset about "misuse" of the site but in her quest to make her feelings known she has picked on a sensitive thread.
kazza - perhaps before you post your feelings about site rule breaking - consider carefully the subject of the thread first.
go for the inane drivel and abusive stuff - you will likely be met with much agreement.

thankyou from the bottom of my heart to those people who have supported my right to disagree with the majority.
I am in no way being disrespectful to dot.hawkes son as i still haven't read the thread anyway just explaining that not a questio/chat/update on personal life = reason for reporting. (i know ive stated that about 3 times now but hey ho)
As someone who dosen't have regular dialogue with the ab ed, i am genuinely interested to know why there is a category for reporting chat threads/non questions, if you are not allowed to report them?
I have seen a lot of people post chat htreads on here recently, and a lot of people moaning that b+s are becoming filled with them but i find it hard to distinguish how you know if its alright to report them or not ... it seems to be based arbitrarily on the who is posting (ie its ok for some not for others?) or the relative "importance" of the subject ... but surely "importance" is subjective, thereofre what some people might report is different from what others might do ... the only fair way forward seems to be non-biased reporting of all Not a questio/chat threads (which i aim for) or to remove that as a reason for reporting?
people keep saying that i have stomped on a sensitive issue with this post, but as i still haven't read the original post, i can't say it was done intentionally.
i am a bit of a last worder dot.hawkes but only because i still feel a bit unfairly maligned. I was even a bit worried about opening this post today, as i thought there were about 10 more replies that were probably all insulting me still
