I take a supplement from Holland and Barrett for hair nails and skin.. I dont have long nails, as I spend so much Bl**dy time washing up! But they are in good condition.
Filing your nails, you go in one direction, not back and forth. Hope that helps lucky x
Good diet and plenty of TLC.Always wear rubber gloves for washing up and any cleaning jobs that involve water ,detergents, bleach etc..Gloves for gardening.Soak them in almond oil a couple of times a week. Plenty of hand and nail cream.Varnish contains formaldehyde which weakens the nails if used all the time.Only file in one direction and clip nails with a nail clipper.
Invest in a good nail styler and buff the nails every day .This stimulates the blood under the nail bed and promotes healthy growth.
I have a problem with two nails that split down the side if I so much as look at them. I heard that gelatine was good for them, like in fruit pastilles, etc. Love the fruit pastilles, but they haven't improved my nails!
pleasehelp - yr sister is right because that's what I use - otherwise they break... Would love to get my nails stronger without having to varnish them tho.. I file in different directions so that won't be helping by the sounds of things.
With reference to jelly cubes, as mentioned by crete, I heard that this was a good way of the gelatine giving healthy nails. However, the article aslo stated that it would not necessarily work for everyone (?), and would take at least 9 months from eating it, before (if any) affect.
I'm with shaney on the nail buffing - you can feel the blood rushing under the nail bed, and it saves on the clear nail varnish for shiny nails lol !!
A friend once buffed my nails but the problem was that then they became so thin that they all snapped so I have never buffed since - hence very ridgey nails :(
I wonder if the manicurist just got carried away, and I should try some light buffing...
Think diet probably does play a huge part. Does anyone recall a product called 'Nail and Cuticle Wax' made (I think) by Almay? It was fantastic, but I can't find it in high street chemists any more...That is great stuff to use in my experience. Anyone know what I'm talking about or have any suggestions where to find it?
