problem shared
49 Answers
Yesterday I was reading the paper and there's a section called problem shared where readers write in with a problem and other readers are given the chance to reply. Anyway the problem the reader had was she wanted a baby but her husband didn't. And the top letter was this 'I think she should go ahead and get pregnant and then pretend it was an accident. He cannot blame her and I don't imagine he will force her into an abortion. He'll come round to the idea in time. A lot of men say they're not interested in having kids but when one comes along they often become a doting dad'. And she goes on to say she did this and he now adores their son. I was appalled this letter won 20.00. This is so wrong to trap a bloke into having a kid by pretending it was an accident. What do you reckon?

Well I'm not too surprised by the answer as I've known plenty of girls in the past who have that sort of mentality. The other suggestions must've been diabolical for that one to win though!!
A new law should be created whereby it is considered 'entrapment' if the female does this. Ooh! I might pop over to the new and trendy Law section and suggest it!!
p.s. Crete, I have to agree that the reply does sound like that of a Sun reader!!!! :o)

But thats what I was saying Champagne you cant say all Sun readers agree and that we all think that way. I certainly dont. And crete I have no problem with you I am simply saying sometimes your answers have nothing to do with the question and that is why I never mentioned the paper when you first asked. You bowed out in one post and now you're cheering Champs on. Please can we get back to the question. I myself Champagne think that if a girl traps a man then he shouldnt have to pay maintenance but unfortunately if this became law too many men would be trying to get away with not paying saying they were trapped.
i assume the 'what?' was in answer to my post.
I was saying that i was giving the advice to make myself pregnant when in that same situation by friends of mine who see themselves as above such things as reading the news of the world and the sun (i dont read it but that is beside the point). These friends of mine thought it would be a good idea for me to get pregnant and make hubby accept it.
Because of this i disagree with Champagnes suggestion that the reply sounded like that of a sun reader. 4getmenot has obviously read the paper in question and found the idea appalling and yet people who dont read it think its a good idea. Therefore in my opinion its the morals of people that advise such action rather than the paper they read that should be in question.
I hope that is clears it up

But you know what women can get trapped too. My mate became pregnant and didnt want the baby until her bloke said hed stick by her and they would bring the baby up and he would always be there etc. So she went ahead with it. Babies now 3 months pregnant and the blokes left her when it was him that wanted baby in first place.
The Sun reader comment was implied tongue in cheek. The reply was probably better suited to be a p***-take in the likes of VIZ magazine!!
I think its an act of deceit. Pure and simple. A woman who is capable of doing that is either a) out to ensnare the man by whatever means necessary, or b) out just to have kids. Id love to hear them justify themselves.

Thanks for clearing that up redcrx.
4getmenot, Ive had that happen to a friend of mine too. It wasnt planned on the mans part though. They were having issues and a lot of their rows boiled down to the fact that he wanted kids. He was insistent that having a baby would sort all their problems. Lo and behold, shortly after the birth of the baby they divorced.
Okay, so lets say a woman does get pregnant in order to trap her man, and then they go on to live blissfully and happily ever after. Is it still immoral?
