Does anyone else find that when you get pretty drunk you get all tired but when you go to bed you just cannot sleep at all?and spend the night just half awake and half asleep or waking up every few minutes?
Why is this?

I find that if I have had too much to drink I sleep pretty well, when I don't drink Im a total insomniac!

heh odd you get the opposite to me!
lol.The only sleep I ever get is when Ive had a drink! Even then its only 5 or 6 hours but that to me is fantastic! I drank waaayyyy too much wine last night - went to bed at 1.30am and slept till 6.45am.That is a really good night for me.On a typical eve I wake up at 1-2 am,and thats it!
A nightcap makes you drowsy at first, but when the alcohol leaves your system your blood sugar will drop, causing you to wake. The use of alcohol disrupts both REM and slow wave sleep, both vital in the restoration and rebuilding of the mind and the body. Alcohol affects the neurotransmitters that regulate these two phases of sleep as well as the onset of sleep.

The 'experts' always recommend to avoid alcohol if you are suffering from insomnia.

Interesting Kitty - might be half my problem! lol
i am like you friek..... always lying awake, i see every hour and all i want to do is go to sleep.

i was told it was due to the fact that i drink alcopops when i go out and they are fullof caffiene which make you wide awake, i guess that makes sence,

it nice to know that someone else suffers like me after drinks!!
I suffer from insomnia but Im not going to lose any sleep over it.

LMAO @ Ratter
Its like this morning - Ive been awake for hours,Ive tried going back to bed as this is the only day I can have a lie-in,but can I sleep?? nooooooo!
I drop off to sleep really easily when i've had a drink then sleep soundly for roughly 3 hours and then Im awake for at least a couple of hours. My body feels tired but my mind is dancing! I hate it and it puts me off drinking (not too much though) knowing im going to be soooo tired in the morning.
