I have lots of friends but only one real friend who I can trust and rely on. I'm not big on sharing personal information with others yet I find I'm the listener and usually offer advice even if it's something they don't want to hear.
I don't really get on with people who constantly agree with me just for the sake of being nice.

i have a great circle of friends.....i have 2 very good friends....
one femaleand one male, who know of each other, however never met. they are very similar in their advice to me and open and honest, with both good positive advice, and to the point even if i dont want to hear it.
they are true friends who i trust my life with, and have helped me through a very difficult 4 years, just wouldnt know where i would be without them.
good question, by the way x

I can talk to my best friend about anything without feeling embarassed. I know that whatever I say will go no further if I don't want it to. I know that, even if my best friend disagrees with me, he will not judge me on my actions, but will be there to say 'never mind' when I make a wrong decision. He takes my friendship with all the baggage that entails, good or bad. Every one of these actions is reciprocated.
We share interests, backgrounds and, in our case, family (we're cousins) but I don't know how much that influences our friendship. I'm certainly not as close to the rest of my cousins, and I have fourteen of them.

Hi funkymoped, i think trust is a vital ingredient of a good friendship. I have loads of good friends but probably only a couple of great ones. I think you should be able to pour your heart out if needs be, be there to listen too, be able to say what needs saying and move on and also be able to pick up exactly where you left off even if you haven't spoken for months. True friendships don't happen all that often so we need to grasp them with both hands when they do.
i have plenty of freinds, people i go for drinks with, people i talk to and people i like, however, unfortunatly my best mate got killed a few years back and i do miss having him around! as a burly bloke you dont think you have freinds who you "need", but, when that oppertunity is taken away, you realise that you did have, and you miss it!!
Don't worry about your spelling rugeley, you just used a number in the last post! :oP (just kidding)
Sorry to hear about your friend, it must be really difficult when you need someone to talk to or just to get things off your chest, I guess it's hard to form new friendships when there are certain people who have such an impact on your life that no one else will ever replace them.
I know I couldn't talk to anyone else like I do with my best friend, sometimes I wonder how he puts up with me, maybe he just switches off and says yes/no at an appropriate time, who knows??
